Meme: Top 10 video games

Another meme!

I have way more than 10 favourite videogames, so it was a tough choice to choose ones for this. However, I decided to sort of use screenies to sometimes represent game series, such as the Silent Hill-franchise (I love 3 and 4 as well!) and the Resident Evil games (4 )

I was also more biased towards newer games, since they're still fresh in my mind. Still, a couple of classics found their way into the list as well.

1. Silent Hill 2 was the first survival horror game I ever played, and I was hooked. The game started my long love of all kinds of horror games, and even though the series is not doing that well anymore, I still have a special place in my heart for the earlier games.

2. Guild Wars. My first MMO. Check out my gallery, 'nuff said.

3. Mass Effect 1&2 (and most likely 3 as well, once it comes out). I don't play a lot of sci-fi games because I find most of them too full of techtalk and action, and not enough character development. ME has plenty of awesome character development without forgetting the action too.

4. Final Fantasy 7 was my first jrpg. I had never heard about the series before, and found the game in a sale-basket just prior to moving back to Finland from Canada. 13-year-old me was hooked instantly. I also really like 8, 9, 10, 10-2 and somewhat 12.... however, not very happy about the direction the game series is going these days.

5. Left 4 Dead was the first time I played shooters with friends online. Before that, I didn't really like first person shooters, and found playing shooters with other people really frustrating due to my lack of skill. L4D taught me that in a pinch, I can handle a gun pretty well. Also, zombies!

6. Metal Gear Solid 3 was the first time I actually played something military-ish. I used to heavily dislike shooters and military games, and only stuck to jrpgs before trying out MGS3. I was hooked instantly - Snake is just too awesome for words. Image above is from MGS4, where Old Snake shows that he's still got it.

7. Resident Evil 5 (and the Resident Evil games in general) are just pure awesome survival. The newest one didn't feel as much like horror as the earliest ones, but I love the multiplayer options in it.

8. The Witcher just tickles my dark fantasy bone in a special way. :3

9. Bayonetta is an awesomely over-the-top shooter with a great sense of humor. This spot was a tough choice between Bayonetta and Devil May Cry-franchise, but since DMC is going downhill I figured I'd give Bayo the spotlight.

10. Okami, a beautifully told fairytale of a game. This game should definitely have gotten more attention than it did - it's not every day you get to play a wolf saving the world.
